先週，田植えと平行して，庭に芝を蒔いた．庭と言っても車一台分あるかないか程度の広さである．普通，芝生というとマット状のものを買ってきて，植えるというか置く感じで根付かせるのだが，それはコストがかかるので，今回は西洋芝の種なるものを買ってきた．まぁ失敗しても現状より悪くならないだろう，という気分である．
本当はもう少し早い時期に蒔くべきだったのだが，いろいろと事情で遅れてしまったのである．
で，種の蒔き方であるが，表面から20cmから30cm程度を耕してから，軽くローラーで慣らしてから蒔く，とある．確かどこかに鍬があったはず…と探すと，この10年以上使っていない鍬を発見．さっそく耕し始めた．が，あっという間に鍬の柄が折れてしまった．さすがに古すぎたらしい．仕方がないので，他になにかないか物色．スコップを見つけたので，それで耕していく．
汗だらけになって耕し終わる．続いてローラー．なんてものは当然持っていないので，その手順はパス．とりあえず種を蒔く．
続いて，表面を軽く耕して，再度ローラーをかけるとのこと．うーむ．とりあえず肥料入りの土があったので，それを上から振りかけた．で，ローラーはパス．
そのまま一週間放置した結果が，上の写真である．2cmほどの芽がたくさん出てきた．これが雑草とかその他もろもろに負けずに育ってくれるとよいのだが．
まぁあまり育っても，どうやって刈るの？とか，そういう問題があるのだが．
